Overview

Carollo Engineers is an internationally recognized environmental engineering firm that specializes in the planning, design, and construction of water and wastewater facilities. Carollo’s Water Applied Research Center (Water ARC®) provides nationwide process-based research expertise for both municipal and private sector clients for drinking water, wastewater, reuse, and infrastructure applications. Water ARC® services include laboratory-based bench treatability testing, equipment/pilot design and fabrication, and full-service support for field, pilot, and demonstration studies.

 

We are seeking a Lead Field Technologist to join our pilot and field testing support group in Boise, ID. The person selected for this role will take a leadership role in maintaining and supporting Carollo’s pilot and field equipment fleet, both remotely and in the field. This unique, and at times fast-paced, position combines excellent client service and responsiveness with hands-on aptitude, detailed planning, high QA/QC standards, real time troubleshooting, and creativity. As part of our team, you will work on a wide range of projects and fulfill a wide range of roles to ensure efficient equipment deployments resulting in high quality pilot and field studies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional client service
  • Maintain and prepare pilot and field equipment for deployment
  • Commission and decommission pilot and field equipment
  • Perform remote and onsite troubleshooting and support of pilot and field equipment
  • Simultaneously support multiple projects of varying complexity and duration
  • Implement and maintain pilot program QA/QC methods
  • Communicate with equipment vendors and procure equipment
  • Perform engineering calculations
  • Identify and implement solutions to optimize internal systems (e.g., tracking, inventory, QA/QC)
  • Participate in equipment design and fabrication
  • Travel as needed
  • Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in one of the following or related fields:
    • Civil, Chemical, Environmental or Mechanical Engineering 
  • 4+ years of directly relevant hands-on experience with water, wastewater, and reuse pilot equipment operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Ability to apply engineering principles including critical thinking, problem solving, optimization, and innovation
  • Robust skills in data interpretation, quality management, and field/workshop safety
  • Familiarity with computer applications including Sketchup, PFD & P&ID creator
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Work well in a team environment
  • Highly motivated, articulate, and self-starting
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong tendency to leverage outside resources to enhance quality and efficiency

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree is preferred:
  • Coursework in physical, chemical, and biological processes; hydraulics; and principles of water and wastewater treatment plant and design
  • Experience with instrumentation and controls
  • Experience with pilot study and pilot site design
  • 3-D modeling experience

Pay Range

An employee’s pay will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
