Overview

Carollo Engineers is a nationally recognized environmental engineering firm that specializes in the planning, design, and construction of water, stormwater, and wastewater facilities. We are seeking a Structural Engineer to join our team. Our intent for this position is to be based out of our Denver (Westminster) office, but we are open to hybrid and remote arrangements. Our Colorado structural engineering team consists of engineers with a range of experience, working on water infrastructure projects locally and across the Midwest. Responsibilities

  • Plans, monitors and manages structural engineering scope and schedule for successful completion of mid-sized projects or assists senior engineer on large-sized projects.
  • Completes analysis and design of structural concepts to advance design with assistance from senior engineer, if necessary.
  • Attends project meetings and represents the structural discipline in project meetings
  • Production of Contract Documents for construction of structures, including calculations, plans, and specifications
  • Coordinates details of design between various project design disciplines
  • May perform quality management reviews of structural designs by others under direction of senior engineer and works with designer to understand and resolve issues arising from the review
  • Conducts on-site investigations and evaluations of existing structures, including the preparation of reports
  • Works with other project team members to understand and integrate their requirements into the structural design
  • Mentors and trains staff and entry-level structural engineers
  • Assists and coaches CADD technicians in developing presentations of structural designs
  • Determines required effort and prepares estimates for cost and schedule of structural engineering services for design and construction
  • Assists field staff in resolving issues and questions during construction
  • Assists in continuing development and improvement of structural design standards, specifications, and typical details
  • Develops project-specific designs, standards, specifications and details for unusual or unique situations
  • Travel required when requested
  • Makes site visits to observe during construction and operation

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with Structural Emphasis
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience, preferably in the design of water and wastewater treatment structures
  • Expert in the application of building codes and code-referenced standards for design of water treatment and industrial structures in concrete, steel, and reinforced masonry
  • Motivated self-starter will have demonstrated experience working with minimum supervision to complete structural engineering tasks while acting as part of a multi-disciplinary project team
  • Demonstrates and exercises sound engineering judgement
  • Possesses and exercises problem-solving skills
  • High level of attention to detail and quality
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of specifications for construction using concrete, masonry and steel
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of presentation of structural design and detailing in construction documents
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of knowledge and understanding of structural design codes and standards
  • Skilled in organizing and coordinating work with both peers and subordinates, and in planning, monitoring, and completing projects within that plan
  • Production and project management skills and experience is preferred
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Experience in public speaking roles
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Office

Preferred Qualifications

  • Registration as a Professional or Structural Engineer
  • Preferred education includes a Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering
  • Experience in the design of water treatment structures
  • Experience with Microstation/Navisworks or AutoCAD/Revit

Pay Range

$90,000 to $125,000 annually. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting, centered around the experience range highlighted. We are open to candidates with different levels of experience, and would prefer you highlight this in your cover letter. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
