As a member of the Human Resources team, the Senior Compliance & Employee Relations Specialist will be responsible for partnering with company leaders aligned with the implementation of best practices to support the achievement of corporate business objectives. You will partner with in-house and external legal counsel teams and Human Resources on employee relations and compliance matters. The position requires strategic thinking, strong problem-solving, conflict resolution, and analytical skills.


This opportunity is a hybrid position. Qualified candidates must be able to commute into our Phoenix office at least two days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts comprehensive, fair, and impartial investigations into workplace concerns such as harassment, discrimination, retaliation, misconduct, and other policy violations
  • Partners with legal counsel (in-house and external) and Human Resources on investigation compliance with applicable laws, internal policies, and best practices
  • Prepares detailed investigation reports, including findings, conclusions, and recommended actions
  • Provides guidance and coaching to managers and employees on routine and complex employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and performance management
  • Maintains confidentiality and accurate documentation of all employee cases in accordance with data retention policies
  • Consults on progressive discipline, terminations, and involuntary separations to mitigate risk
  • Analyzes trends and root causes to proactively address workplace issues, improve employee engagement, and inform training
  • Reviews organizational practices for compliance with federal, state, and local labor and employment laws and makes recommendations
  • Reviews, maintains, and adheres to standard procedures for employee relations activities including workplace investigations
  • Collaborates with legal counsel on high-risk matters and regulatory inquiries
  • Supports company policy development and interpretation
  • Supports human resources compliance efforts by keeping policies and procedures up to date and recommending updates based on trends or legal developments
  • Monitors adherence to company policies, procedures, and performance management standards
  • Collaborates on the development and delivery of compliance training programs for employees and managers
  • Support litigation and labor claims, as needed
  • Provide backup support to human resources team members as needed and participate in special projects as assigned by the Human Resources Director

Qualifications

  • Strong investigative and analytical skills; ability to assess credibility, synthesize evidence, and determine appropriate outcomes
  • Deep knowledge of employment law (e.g., Title VII, ADA, FMLA, FLSA) and HR best practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion and empathy
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Strong problem-solving, conflict resolution, and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple complex cases simultaneously under tight deadlines
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, or related field
  • 5–7 years of progressive experience in employee relations, HR investigations, compliance, and employment law
  • Experience working with in-house or external legal counsel on investigations or dispute resolution
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Teams)

Preferred Qualifications

  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP
