Overview

Carollo Engineers is an internationally recognized environmental engineering firm that specializes in the planning, design, and construction of water, wastewater, stormwater, and reuse facilities. We are seeking a Design/Project Manager to support our industrial client growth and project demands in our Private Sector Group. 

 

You will work on projects related to municipal water/wastewater treatment plants, distribution/collection systems, and pumping facilities.  This will include projects related to master planning, asset management, condition assessments, infrastructure improvements, water quality studies, treatment plant rehabilitation and expansions, and critical water reuse projects that will create sustainable and resilient water supplies.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as design/project manager for several concurrent water and/or wastewater projects which may include varying project size and complexity including master planning, source water, treatment, distribution and collection systems, storage, and pumping facilities.
  • Applies acute technical and project delivery knowledge to advise clients throughout the project life cycle and meet or exceed budget, schedule, and quality goals.
  • Plans, schedules, and conducts engineering work on water, wastewater, stormwater, and reuse projects of various sizes and complexity, with full responsibility over design decisions and quality standards. Specific work will include preliminary design, detailed design, cost estimating, bidding, engineering services during construction, and project commissioning. Representative engineering tasks include the development of hydraulic calculations, treatment process evaluations and sizing, preparation and review of technical memoranda, design development and reviews, design management in coordination with discipline engineers (e.g. civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and controls), and QA/QC.
  • Resources, supervises and coordinates the work of staff engineers, drafters, technicians, and others who assist with specific assignments.
  • Identifies need for, and ability to direct and actively manage sub-consultants performing services on projects.
  • Facilitate business development efforts including marketing and identification of new clients.
  • Ability to prepare proposals and interviews, and to lead negotiating efforts with client after selection.
  • Maintains a culture of effective communication among project teams, clients, partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Travel is required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Civil, or Environmental Engineering.
  • 10+ years of project experience with managing small- to large-sized projects during the planning, design, and construction phases of water, wastewater, stormwater, and reuse infrastructure and treatment projects with full responsibility for budget, schedule, contractual obligations, and quality standards.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in the state of California (or the ability to obtain it through reciprocity within 6 months of employment).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with clients and project team.
  • Business development, proposal, and interview experience.
  • Works well in a team environment.
  • Ability to deliver high quality services within budget and schedule constraints.
  • Highly motivated, articulate, and self-starting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or Business Administration.
  • Active in professional associations, including presentations of technical papers, member of technical committees, and officer of local or national organization.

Pay Range

$150,000 to $175,000 per year. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
