Overview

Carollo Engineers is an internationally recognized environmental engineering firm that specializes in the planning, design, and construction of water and wastewater facilities. We are seeking a highly detail-oriented Contracts Analyst with strong analytical and written communication skills to join our team. This role is critical in providing comprehensive contract review and risk analysis beyond standard policy checklists. The ideal candidate will come from an AEC (Architecture, Engineering, Construction) or similarly technical and regulated industry, and be comfortable collaborating closely with engineers and project managers to provide insightful feedback, suggest revisions, and ensure contracts meet both legal and business objectives.

This is not an administrative contract routing role. We are looking for someone who is proactive, solutions-oriented, and can confidently review contracts with a critical eye, identify red flags, and recommend thoughtful changes.

At Carollo you’ll make an impact at an organization that does meaningful work, fosters a collaborative team culture, and creates a diverse, inclusive environment where you feel like you belong. You’ll work alongside a collaborative and dynamic team of professionals that is truly passionate about our work. Carollo’s vision is to be the BEST water consulting firm and you’ll find that Carollo is also the best place for you to build your career.

Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze contract terms and legal documents for risk, inconsistencies, and alignment with company policies, statutes, and applicable laws

  • Provide clear, concise, and professional written comments on contract drafts, and recommend alternatives or solutions for problematic language

  • Collaborate directly with engineers, project managers, and internal stakeholders to gather context, clarify intent, and ensure contract provisions reflect technical and operational needs

  • Lead or support negotiation of contract provisions with clients, partners, or subconsultants

  • Participate in internal efforts to maintain and refine standard contract templates and specifications based on regulatory updates and industry trends

  • Assist in preparation and editing of NDAs, teaming agreements, amendments, and other legal documents

  • Conduct legal and regulatory research as needed (e.g., prevailing wage laws, contractor licensing, public contract codes)

  • Support efforts to maintain compliance with business registration and professional licensing requirements across jurisdictions

  • Assist in developing and updating construction specification documents and engineering contract language

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of contract review and negotiation experience, preferably within the AEC, utilities, infrastructure, or public sector environments

  • Strong understanding of construction, engineering, or professional services contracts

  • Proven ability to identify risks, inconsistencies, or unclear terms — and recommend edits, alternatives, or language improvements

  • Experience working closely with engineering teams or technical departments, with an ability to bridge legal and technical language

  • Excellent written communication and editing skills — must be able to comment clearly and professionally in a consistent voice

  • Comfortable interpreting and applying relevant statutes (public contracts code, labor laws, license board regulations, etc.)

  • Strong research and documentation skills, ideally with experience using legal tools (e.g., Westlaw)

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4 year college/university degree
  • 3+ years contract review experience
  • Experience with legal research

Pay Range

$30.00 to $48.00 per hour. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
