This opportunity is a hybrid position.  Qualified candidates must be able to commute into our Phoenix office at least two days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Provides support to employees and management in understanding leave policies including impacts on benefits.
  • Manages day-to-day support for leave of absences, disability claims, and accommodation requests in compliance with federal, state, Canadian and company leave policies.
  • Oversees complex and escalated matters related to employee leaves and disability claims.
  • Responsible for communication and tracking of applicable benefit premium payments from employees on leave of absence.
  • Coordinates change of benefit coverage/status with employees on leave who have had a qualified life event.
  • Accurately records employee leave of absence information in leave tracking system.
  • Coordinates with Payroll regarding leaves of absence including but not limited to wage replacement benefits coordination (PTO with state disability payments), changes in scheduled hours, health benefits coverage deductions, timesheet tracking and return to work.
  • Coordinates with managers to facilitate a successful transition for employees returning from leave, including accommodation requests and job modifications.
  • Identifies and implements process improvements including reducing the manual efforts through automation for leave of absence tracking.
  • Acts as liaison between employees, disability carriers, and management, when necessary, including issue resolution and follow-up.
  • Collects and reviews supporting documentation for leave requests and communicates requirements to employees.
  • Responsible for workplace accommodation process to include but not limited to intake of requests, engaging in and conducting the interactive process with employees and supervisors, tracking and documenting accommodation requests and maintaining accurate records.
  • Produce and analyze reports and metrics, including ad hoc reports concerning leave and disability trends.
  • Handle private and sensitive data in accordance with company policy and legal requirements.
  • Demonstrate excellent judgment and discretion in supporting complex and private employee matters.
  • Generating data for ACA Reporting and managing relationship with ACA reporting vendor.
  • Cross trains and provides team support with coverage in benefits administration as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of demonstrated Leave of Absence and Employee Benefits administration experience.
  • Experience in Microsoft Suite, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • In-depth knowledge of Federal, State and Canadian leave laws including FMLA, ADA.
  • Analytical skills, creativity, and experience working with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, including experience communicating Leave of Absence and Benefit concepts to different audiences across the organization.
  • General knowledge of Medicare and Social Security requirements related to disability and benefit eligibility.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience building relationships and influencing others while working with different audiences across the organization.
  • Working knowledge of various employment laws, regulations, as they apply to benefits and leave of absence compliance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience administering Canadian leave of absences.
