Responsibilities

  • Lead preliminary, thorough, and detailed design efforts for municipal- and agency-owned stormwater and drainage projects ranging in size from $1-4M in construction. Examples include pipelines, open channels, pump stations, channel stabilization techniques, storage and treatment facilities, multi-benefit facilities, and other conveyance measures.
  • Work directly with the CAD team to create plan sets, work directly with specification processing team to create contract documents.
  • Project scopes may include the study of urban storm sewer and/or roadside ditch networks, regional and subregional detention basins, channel construction, channel rehabilitation and erosion prevention, development of drainage mitigation options and regional watershed flood planning.
  • Leadership in and direction of hydraulic and hydrologic calculations, report writing, and other activities needed to support the planning and design of stormwater management facilities.
  • Collaboration with other engineering disciplines, designers, and scientists, among others, who support specific assignments.
  • Some travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • BS in Civil, Environmental, or Agricultural Engineering
  • Professional engineering license in the State of Texas and be able to obtain the Texas CFM certificate within one year from the date of employment
  • 6-12 years of experience relating to stormwater projects
  • Experience in the production of hydrologic and hydraulic analysis (H&H) and preparation of technical reports for urban and regional flood damage reduction projects. 
  • Experience utilizing wide range of software packages such as, but not limited to, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS (steady, unsteady, 1D, 2D), ICPR4, XP-SWMM (1D,2D), ArcGIS, and StormCAD
  • Experience in preparation of technical reports
  • Experience with the selection and optimization of multi-benefit urban stormwater projects
  • Experience coordinating modeling and drawing production activities between all disciplines at the project level
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to apply critical thinking to develop options and recommendations to solve technical problems
  • Ability to present to groups and communicate effectively with clients and project team
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
