Responsibilities

  • Production of contract documents including plans and specifications
  • Performs load and voltage drop calculations
  • Expert in short circuit, protective device and coordination studies
  • Expert in development of One-Line diagrams and Control schematics
  • Interfaces and coordinates the electrical design with electrical utilities, project team and client
  • Mentors and trains staff-level electrical engineers
  • Prepares technical memorandums and reports
  • Enforces company and client standards on projects
  • Prepares construction and design cost estimates
  • Manages the electrical portion of medium to large sized projects for water and wastewater treatment facilities
  • Conducts quality management reviews of electrical design
  • Participates in continuing editing and development of electrical master specifications
  • Develops project specific specifications for unusual or unique instrumentation applications
  • Prioritizes and balances competing project demands and conflicting project requirements
  • Manages other electrical engineers and CADD technicians to effectively complete work with attention to detail
  • Delegates tasks to others and follows ups on completion and quality of work
  • Identifies and consults with others on solutions to unusual, difficult, or complex tasks
  • Effectively participates in client contacts and business development efforts
  • Identifies alternatives, evaluates each, and determines appropriate actions to move forward
  • Makes solid and implementable decisions in a timely manner
  • Reduces complex aspects of electrical engineering to terms understandable to others
  • Attends to details in preparation or review of calculations, drawings, and specifications
  • Monitors scope, schedule, and budget and controls the work to the project plan
  • Understands, implements, and enforces company and client technical standards on projects
  • Travel required when requested
  • Makes site visits to observe during construction and operation

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 10+ years of experience in the design of industrial power and control systems
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer
  • Registered with the NCEES
  • Experience in the design of low voltage power distribution systems, industrial controls and lighting systems for water and wastewater treatment facilities
  • Expert in the design of low and medium voltage power distribution systems, industrial controls, and lighting systems for water and wastewater treatment facilities
  • Expert in the design of point to point conduit and wire systems for water and wastewater treatment facilities
  • Expert in lighting calculations and design of lighting systems
  • Expert in receptacle designs, calculations, and phase balancing
  • Expert in the design of conduit, cable tray, wireway and duct bank point-to-point routing
  • Proficient in the design of telephone/communications systems
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the NFPA 70E, NFPA 101, and NFPA 820
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of the National Electrical Code
  • Extensive knowledge of symmetrical components, fault current calculations, and machine theory
  • Extensive knowledge of hazardous/classified area design, fire detection, and protection system design
  • Ability to read and understand P&IDs, control strategies, and the development of control schematics based upon these documents
  • Extensive knowledge of SKM or ETAP or ESDA
  • Proficient working with multi-discipline project teams, including a leadership role of electrical or instrumentation project teams
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision on medium to large electrical power systems for water and wastewater treatment facilities
  • Understands projects at the conceptual level, and develops corresponding electrical engineering scope of work, budget and schedule
  • Ability to work independently to effectively complete routine or moderately complex tasks
  • Ability to simultaneously think beyond past approaches and propose practical approaches to electrical design and construction
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in speech, writing, and contract documents
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Proficient in public speaking roles
  • Proficient in MS Word, Access, and Excel
  • Experience with Microstation and Autocad

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering

Pay Range

$125,000 to $170,000 annually. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
